Description
Founded in 970 CE by the Fatimid general Jawhar al-Siqilli, Al-Azhar became one of the world's oldest universities and the foremost center of Islamic scholarship. The mosque features exquisite Fatimid-era stucco decorations and minarets from multiple periods.
