Colossi of Memnon
Description
Two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that have stood on the Theban west bank for over 3,400 years. Originally guarded his mortuary temple, now largely vanished. The northern colossus was famous in antiquity for 'singing' at dawn.
